AURORA was a media art exhibition + benefit in honor and remembrance of the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. A study and exhibit of light as hope, energy, love and renewal, Aurora was organized and produced by Dawn Faelnar—co-sponsored by the UCLA Art|Sci Center and the David Bermant Foundation.
All proceeds from donations and a silent auction were directed to the non-profit and government-free fundraising effort co-founded by Dawn, Rebuild Cebu.
Extending far beyond the reaches of the media design realm, this multidisciplinary production is one that Dawn Faelnar is particularly proud of. It started as an idea for a small gathering of both artistic and scientific minds—to raise funds and awareness for the catastrophic event, in lieu of the usual yearly birthday celebration.
As the months leading up to March 16th flew by, preparations for the occasion slowly evolved Aurora into a full-blown media-art-science event and benefit. Thanks to the enthusiasm and participation of talented peers, friends, family, and strangers-turned-friends-for-life, "AURORA: Love + Light for the Pearl of the Orient Seas" was the silver birth anniversary that Dawn will forever be grateful for and will never forget.
